Run for It 5K – To Write Love On Her Arms
On April 16th 2016, the MRN participated as a virtual race team in the To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) 5th Annual Run For It 5K. TWLOHA is a charity dedicated to hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide.
Their mission is to encourage, inform, inspire and invest into the treatment and recovery for those suffering with these ailments. Since their founding in 2006, they have responded to 180,000 messages from people in over 100 countries and sponsored multiple people to get the treatment they need.
The 5th Annual Run for It 5K was a huge success with more than 2,000 people running in all 50 states and 11 countries. MRN had 13 members participate and raised a total of $805 for the charity. Overall, the race raised $80,000 for the cause and reached thousands of people. At the start of the race, each runner wrote down why they were racing. Our team ran for “Emily”, “Georgia Tech”, and “Family and Friends”. We had a fantastic morning in spite of the typical English weather and all celebrated the race finish with tea and lunch at a local pub.
